متن کاملSynonymy and biogeography of the dinoflagellate genus Histioneis (Dinophysiales: Dinophyceae).
The genus Histioneis (=Parahistioneis) contains an excessive number of poorly described species, often based on the observation of a single specimen and ignoring the intraspecific variability. In order to investigate the validity of the species and to suggest synonyms, the original illustrations of all known species of Histioneis are reproduced and grouped based on the morphological similarity....
متن کاملFirst records of the dinoflagellate genus Dicroerisma (Actiniscales, Dinophyceae) in the Mediterranean Sea
About 700 species of dinoflagellates have been reported in the Mediterranean Sea, including ca. 90% of the dinoflagellate genera of the world’s oceans (GÓMEZ, 2003, 2005). Despite the historical tradition of taxonomic studies, some genera remain unreported in the Mediterranean basin. TAylor & CATTEll (1969) described the genus Dicroerisma from Canadian Pacific coastal waters. The type, D. psilo...
متن کاملRevision of the New World species of the genus Pelecorhynchus Macquart, 1850 (Diptera: Pelecorhynchidae).
The New World species of the genus Pelecorhynchus Macquart, all of which are only known from Chile, are revised. Two new species are described, Pelecorhynchus hualqui sp. nov. and Pelecorhynchus toltensis sp. nov. All nine New World species in the genus are redescribed and illustrated, and a key to the species is provided.
متن کاملNew scenario for speciation in the benthic dinoflagellate genus Coolia (Dinophyceae).
In this study, inter- and intraspecific genetic diversity within the marine harmful dinoflagellate genus Coolia Meunier was evaluated using isolates obtained from the tropics to subtropics in both Pacific and Atlantic Ocean basins. The aim was to assess the phylogeographic history of the genus and to clarify the validity of established species including Coolia malayensis. Phylogenetic analysis ...
